Celebrations at a wedding in Bihar’s Buxar district turned into chaos on Tuesday night when gunfire erupted at the venue. The incident occurred while traditional ceremonies were underway, leaving guests and family members in shock. Reports indicate that the bride, 18-year-old Kumari, was sitting with the groom when a man opened fire on the crowd.
The bullet struck the bride in her abdominal area, creating panic and confusion. While some guests rushed to protect her, others fled in fear. The festive atmosphere vanished in an instant, replaced by screams and chaos.
Suspected Motive and Ongoing Investigation
Preliminary reports suggest that the shooting may have stemmed from a personal dispute. Police identified the suspected shooter as a young man named Deenabandhu, who is believed to have been known to the bride. Authorities are actively pursuing him, deploying special teams to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Kumari was initially taken to a local hospital, but her condition was critical, prompting her transfer to the Varanasi Trauma Centre. Doctors have described her situation as serious and are closely monitoring her health.
The wedding party from Ballia district, who had travelled for the celebrations, left immediately after the incident, stunned by the turn of events.
