Police Register Case, Probe Underway
Following a complaint from residents, the Narayanpet police registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials shifted the body for post-mortem examination to determine further details.
A senior police official confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and assured that all angles will be examined based on available evidence and statements.
Family Alleges Harassment and Mental Stress
Meanwhile, Mahadevappa’s family alleged that he faced continuous harassment after filing his nomination. They claimed he suffered severe mental stress due to pressure from political opponents and local leaders during the campaign period.
According to family members, the sustained pressure left him unable to cope, which ultimately led him to take the extreme step.
BJP Alleges Role of Congress Leaders
The BJP has alleged that actions by the Congress party pushed their candidate to suicide. Party leaders claimed Mahadevappa was targeted and “terrorised” during the campaign.
The family also accused Telangana Minister Vakati Srihari and his supporters of harassment. They demanded a fair investigation into the allegations.
BJP State President Reacts
BJP Telangana State President N. Ramchander Rao expressed deep shock over the incident. He said the party was deeply pained by the loss of its candidate.
Rao blamed the Congress for what he described as “arrogant politics and mafia-style threats.” He also named Minister Vakati Srihari while addressing the media.
“There are serious allegations that Mahadevappa took this painful decision because he could not bear the harassment by the local minister and his supporters,” Ramchander Rao said.
