A woman has approached the Rajendranagar Court alleging that unknown persons created and circulated obscene deepfake videos using her photos while linking them to TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu. In her petition, she stated that manipulated content has gone viral across multiple social media platforms, causing severe mental distress to her and her family. She also urged the court to direct strict legal action against those responsible.
Complaint Already Registered at Raidurgam Police Station
Earlier, the victim filed a formal complaint at the Raidurgam Police Station, claiming that unidentified individuals morphed her photographs and videos using AI-based deepfake technology. According to her complaint, accounts allegedly operated from Australia and Canada circulated the content widely on social media.
Police registered a case under Sections 319, 335, and 353 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In addition, authorities invoked Sections 66(C), 66(D), and 67 of the Information Technology Act for identity theft, cheating by impersonation, and publishing obscene material online.
Obscene Content Circulated on Multiple Platforms
In her court petition, the victim alleged that several YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram channels shared or amplified the objectionable content. She specifically named channels such as “Desabhimani – A True Indian” (YouTube), “The News Telugu” (YouTube), “Red TV Telugu” (YouTube), “Jagananna Connects” (YouTube), and “Kishor Talks” (YouTube).
She also mentioned Instagram accounts including “Team Prashna,” “laughingyogi_official,” and “ysj_shafi_7,” along with Facebook pages like “ysj2.0” and “Tuni Assembly Media Matters.” According to the petition, these platforms either uploaded or promoted the alleged deepfake material.
Victim Seeks Strict Legal Action
The petitioner informed the court that the circulation of such explicit content has damaged her reputation and caused immense psychological trauma to her family members. She requested the court to issue directions for the immediate removal of the videos and to initiate stringent legal proceedings against all individuals and channels involved.
Meanwhile, police officials confirmed that they are investigating the digital trail and coordinating with cybercrime authorities to trace the origin of the content. The case has sparked fresh concerns over the misuse of AI technology and the growing threat of deepfake content on social media platforms.
As the investigation continues, the court’s response to the petition is likely to shape the next course of action in the high-profile case.
