The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has clarified that Class 10 and 12 board exams in the Middle East will continue as scheduled. A fake circular claimed that Social Science exams on March 7, 2026, were postponed in countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and Iran due to U.S.-Iran tensions. It also falsely stated that language exams before February 28 were cancelled. CBSE Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj and Dr Ram Shankar, head of CBSE foreign schools, dismissed these claims as completely false. They urged students to rely solely on official CBSE websites and verified social media accounts for accurate information.
The Fake Circular
The viral notice confused students and parents. However, CBSE confirmed that the exams remain unchanged. The circular misled students into thinking geopolitical tensions affected the exam schedule.
Official Clarification
CBSE officials emphasised that they did not issue any such notice. Exams in all Middle Eastern countries will continue as planned.
Exam Schedule Remains Unchanged
Class 10 exams will conclude on March 10, 2026, while Class 12 exams will end on April 10, 2026. Students should follow their personal timetables carefully to avoid misunderstandings.
Action Taken
Dr Ram Shankar submitted a detailed report on the misinformation to the CBSE headquarters. The board is monitoring the situation closely to prevent further rumours.
Advisory for Students and Parents
CBSE warned everyone not to believe social media messages about exam delays. Students and parents should check only the official website or verified social media handles for updates.
Exam Scale
Meanwhile, CBSE board exams are currently being conducted across India at 8,074 centres for Class 10, 7,574 centres for Class 12 and 26 examination centres abroad. A total of over 43 lakh students are appearing for these exams.
