Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has assured farmers that the state government is committed to issuing error-free and tamper-proof new pattadar passbooks. He said the initiative aims to restore trust and confidence in land records while correcting mistakes made in the past. The Chief Minister issued these directions during a detailed review meeting of the Revenue Department held on Tuesday.
Gram Sabhas Mandatory Before Final Printing
Addressing officials, Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that no passbook should be printed without proper verification. He ordered that land details must first be confirmed at the field level through gram sabhas. Farmers should verify ownership details personally before final approval. According to him, this process will eliminate errors and prevent future disputes.
He also stressed that any change in land records must strictly require the consent of the landowner, ensuring transparency and accountability in the system.
Advanced Security Features to Prevent Tampering
The Chief Minister explained that the new pattadar passbooks have been designed using advanced technology to prevent forgery and duplication. He said the books will include a royal seal and a QR code, making them highly secure. These features will allow instant verification and reduce the scope for manipulation.
He added that slogans such as ‘mee bhoomi–mee hakka’ and ‘jai bharat – jai telugu thalli’ will be printed on the passbooks. According to the CM, the document is not just a record but a government guarantee of farmers’ land rights.
Digital Access for Farmers
Chandrababu Naidu further directed officials to fully utilise technology in the coming days. He said farmers should be able to access and download their passbooks online, without repeatedly visiting revenue offices. This digital approach, he noted, will save time and reduce harassment.
Over 6 lakh Passbooks already Distributed
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the distribution process began on January 2 and is progressing rapidly across the state. So far, 6.07 lakh new pattadar passbooks have been directly handed over to farmers. The government plans to complete the process in a phased and systematic manner.
Revenue Minister Angani Satya Prasad and senior department officials attended the meeting. The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating that protecting farmers’ land rights remains a top priority of the government.
