Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday issued a strong warning against rowdyism and criminal activities carried out under the guise of politics. He stated that the government would take strict action against offenders and would not hesitate to extern them from the state if required.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the newly constructed District Police Office (DPO) in Tirupati, built with modern facilities. Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha was also present at the event.
Focus on Tirumala Security and Public Safety
Addressing the gathering, Chandrababu Naidu stressed that protecting the sanctity of the world-famous Tirumala shrine and ensuring the safety of millions of devotees remains the government’s top priority. He directed the police to remain highly alert, especially during major festivals like Vaikuntha Ekadashi, and prevent any untoward incidents.
He underlined that there would be no compromise on law and order. According to him, anyone indulging in violence, intimidation, or criminal acts for political gain would face severe consequences.
Technology-Driven Policing
The Chief Minister urged the police to make full use of modern technology to control crime. He called for increased drone surveillance, effective use of CCTV cameras, and data-driven policing to stay ahead of criminals. He highlighted the importance of the “visible policing and invisible intelligence” model to instill confidence among the public while closely monitoring criminal activities.
Criticism of Previous Regime
Chandrababu Naidu strongly criticized the previous government, alleging that law and order had deteriorated during its tenure. He claimed that political patronage had encouraged violence and fear in society. He cited several incidents to emphasize the need for strict monitoring and evidence-based policing.
Zero Tolerance Towards Crime
Reiterating his zero-tolerance policy, the Chief Minister said that even leaders from his own party would face jail if they violated the law. He warned against settlements, threats, and defamatory social media posts, stating that strict legal action would follow.
He also praised the Tirupati district police for effectively curbing ganja, drug trafficking, and red sandalwood smuggling by invoking preventive detention laws. Senior ministers, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, public representatives, and officials attended the program.
