A controversy erupted in Telugu film circles after Chandrahas, son of popular television actor Prabhakar, landed in the spotlight during promotions for his debut film Barabar Premista in Hyderabad. What began as a routine pre-release event quickly turned into a heated discussion across social media and entertainment platforms, forcing Prabhakar to step forward with a public apology.
During the event, Chandrahas sang a song from the film on stage. However, the performance drew sharp criticism after he reportedly added vulgar and abusive words. Within hours, clips from the event spread rapidly online. As a result, netizens and sections of the media questioned not only Chandrahas’s conduct but also Prabhakar’s parenting. The backlash intensified as personal remarks targeted the actor’s family, pushing the issue beyond the incident itself.
Soon after, Prabhakar released an emotional video addressing the controversy. In his statement, he openly admitted that his son made a mistake. He clarified that he had already spoken to Chandrahas and corrected him firmly. According to Prabhakar, the young actor understood his error and expressed regret for the inappropriate act.
At the same time, Prabhakar defended his role as a parent. He said the comments attacking his upbringing deeply hurt him. He stressed that he raised his son with strong values and discipline. Moreover, he urged the public not to judge Chandrahas’s entire character based on one wrong decision made in a moment of poor judgment.
Prabhakar also offered a direct apology to senior film personalities JD Chakravarthy and Jayanth C. Paranjee. Both veterans attended the event as chief guests and found themselves unintentionally dragged into the controversy. Prabhakar said he felt responsible for the discomfort caused to them and expressed his sincere regret.
Meanwhile, despite the ongoing debate, Barabar Premista continues its theatrical run. Prabhakar pointed out that audiences have responded positively to Chandrahas’s acting performance in the film. He requested viewers to separate the film and the artist’s work from the incident at the event.
The episode has sparked wider conversations about public behaviour, accountability, and the pressure faced by star kids entering the industry. While criticism remains strong, Prabhakar’s apology and appeal for restraint have also drawn support from those calling for a more balanced response.
