A tragic road accident claimed the life of an 18-month-old girl in Kothapalem Dalit Nagar of Chirala mandal, Bapatla district. The toddler died on the spot after an auto-rickshaw allegedly ran over her while she was playing near her house.
Accident Occurs While Child Was Playing
The deceased child has been identified as Sai Durga, daughter of Vetagiri Shivakrishna and Pooja from Kothapalem village. On the day of the incident, the little girl was playing on the road in front of her house.
At the same time, an auto carrying agricultural workers reportedly came at high speed through the area. Suddenly, the vehicle hit the child. The impact caused a severe head injury.
Severe Head Injury Proves Fatal
Due to the strong blow to her head, the toddler collapsed immediately. Family members and locals rushed toward the spot. However, she had already succumbed to her injuries.
The heartbreaking incident left the family in deep shock. Neighbours gathered at the scene, and tension prevailed in the locality.

Soon after receiving information, the police reached the accident site. They examined the scene and recorded statements from witnesses.
