Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday assured that his government would fully protect the safety and dignity of the Christian community. He said the coalition government works for all sections of society and respects every religion equally.
Speaking at the Semi-Christmas celebrations in Vijayawada, the Chief Minister said his administration remains committed to inclusive growth. He participated in prayers, lit candles, cut a cake, and extended Christmas greetings to the community.

Message of Jesus Guides Humanity
Chandrababu Naidu said Christmas symbolizes love, peace, and service. Moreover, he stated that the teachings of Jesus Christ continue to guide humanity even today. He urged people to follow the path of compassion, harmony, and service to society.
Role of Christian Institutions Highlighted
The Chief Minister praised Christian institutions for their contribution to education and healthcare. He noted that missionary schools, colleges, and hospitals served society even before governments had adequate infrastructure. Institutions such as Andhra Christian College and Andhra Loyola College shaped several national leaders, he added.
Welfare Measures and Development Plans
Highlighting welfare initiatives, Chandrababu Naidu said his government sanctioned ₹77 crore between 2014 and 2019 for constructing 977 churches. He assured that the government would complete all pending church works. Additionally, he announced that the long-pending Guntur Christian Bhavan would be completed soon.
He further said the government continues financial assistance for Christians visiting Jerusalem. For 2025–26, the state allocated ₹20 crore to create employment for 2,000 beneficiaries. It also sanctioned ₹5 crore under the CEDM scheme for modernization. Furthermore, the government provides free coaching for competitive exams such as Group exams, DSC, and NEET.

₹51 Crore Honorarium to Pastors
Importantly, the Chief Minister announced that the government will credit ₹51 crore in pending honorarium dues to pastors’ bank accounts by the evening of the 24th. Currently, 8,427 pastors receive a monthly honorarium of ₹5,000.

Minority Welfare Minister NMD Farooq, several MLAs, church leaders, and pastors attended the event. They appreciated the government’s commitment to religious harmony and minority welfare.
