A major ATM robbery shook Nizamabad city after unidentified miscreants used a gas cutter to break open two ATMs and escaped with ₹39 lakh in cash. The incident took place in the Aryanagar and Sainagar areas, creating panic among local residents.
Two ATMs Targeted in a Single Night
According to police officials, the accused first targeted an SBI ATM in Sainagar, where they looted around ₹9 lakh. Subsequently, the gang broke into a DCB Bank ATM in Aryanagar and stole nearly ₹30 lakh.
While cutting open the machines, some cash was partially burnt due to fire caused by the gas cutter, police confirmed.
Five-Member Gang Suspected
Preliminary investigation suggests that a five-member gang carried out the robbery in a well-planned manner. The criminals fled the scene before police arrived.
Meanwhile, investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects and trace their movements.
Senior Police Officials Inspect Spot
Kamareddy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Chandra visited both crime scenes and reviewed the investigation. He directed officials to speed up the probe and ensure the culprits are arrested at the earliest.
Police have intensified night patrols and surveillance in sensitive areas to prevent similar incidents.
