Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Monday said crime across the state has declined significantly in 2025 compared to the previous year. He released a special annual performance report highlighting key achievements of the police department.

Improved Law and Order

Speaking to the media, the DGP said the police made substantial progress in maintaining law and order. According to him, focused policing and continuous monitoring helped reduce overall crime. He added that officers remained alert across districts, which strengthened public confidence.

Focus on Women’s Safety and Drug Control

Importantly, Harish Kumar Gupta said police initiatives on women’s safety delivered visible results. Police responded faster to harassment complaints and resolved cases efficiently.
Meanwhile, the department intensified action against marijuana and drug trafficking. By closely monitoring transport routes, police dismantled several narcotics networks.

In addition, the DGP said technology helped recover stolen mobile phones. As a result, police returned thousands of recovered phones to their rightful owners.

Police Modernisation Plans

Looking ahead, the DGP announced plans to modernise policing systems. He revealed that a two-day workshop will be held after Sankranti. The sessions will focus on future policing, technology use, and evolving responsibilities over the next decade. He said citizens will soon experience a more transparent and tech-driven police force.

Action Against Maoists and Cybercrime

The DGP also stressed that everyone is equal before the law. He warned that police will act firmly against offenders, regardless of influence.
At the same time, he said police successfully curbed Maoist activities, citing recent arrests as proof.

On cybercrime, Harish Kumar Gupta said many online frauds originate from international gangs, especially from China. Since stolen money gets transferred abroad instantly, recovery becomes difficult. Therefore, he urged citizens to stay cautious during online transactions.

Key Priorities

Concluding, the DGP said the police department’s priorities remain women’s safety, drug control, cybercrime prevention, and crime reduction. He expressed confidence that public cooperation will help make Andhra Pradesh safer.
