Ministers Lokesh and Anita Meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah
Andhra Pradesh Ministers Nara Lokesh and Anitha met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and submitted a detailed report on the losses caused by Cyclone Montha. They explained that the state suffered damage worth ₹6,352 crore across multiple sectors.

Severe Impact Across 3,109 Villages
The ministers stated that Cyclone Montha created intense hardships for people and severely damaged essential infrastructure. The cyclone crossed the coast near Kakinada on the night of October 28, bringing heavy rain and winds reaching 100 kmph. As a result, 3,109 villages were affected.

Government’s Immediate Response
The Andhra Pradesh Government acted quickly. It shifted 1.92 lakh people to 2,471 relief camps, providing food, drinking water, milk, and other essentials. Each affected family received ₹3,000 as immediate assistance.
Furthermore, the administration cleared fallen trees, restored water supply, and set up temporary shelters. The state also granted ₹60 crore as emergency relief.
Sector-Wise Loss Assessment
The cyclone inflicted heavy losses across several departments:
- Agriculture and allied sectors: ₹271 crore
- House damage: ₹7 crore
- Roads and infrastructure: ₹4,324 crore
- Electricity sector: ₹41 crore
- Water resources and irrigation: ₹369 crore
- Permanent construction works: ₹1,302 crore
- Community assets: ₹48 crore
Out of the ₹6,356 crore total, only ₹902 crore qualifies for immediate relief under NDRF guidelines.
Central Team Inspection Completed
Lokesh added that a Central Ministers’ team (IMCT) visited the affected areas and conducted a field inspection based on the report submitted on December 12. Home Minister Anitha and several MPs from the state also attended the meeting with Amit Shah.
