Republic Day celebrations concluded with grandeur at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, highlighting India’s growing military strength and indigenous defence capabilities. After the parade ended, President Droupadi Murmu, accompanied by distinguished guests, departed for Rashtrapati Bhavan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also left the venue soon after the formal conclusion, marking the end of a historic national event.
The Republic Day parade in the national capital strongly reflected the operational readiness of India’s armed forces. This year’s celebrations placed special focus on Operation Sindoor, drawing widespread attention. For the first time, the Indian Army presented its contingent in a battle array format, offering a realistic glimpse of modern battlefield deployment. Weapons, surveillance systems, and combat units appeared as they would during live operations, adding a powerful visual impact to the parade.
Operation Sindoor Theme Steals the Spotlight
The Indian Army tableau based on the Operation Sindoor theme emerged as a major highlight. It effectively showcased the seamless coordination among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Indigenous defence systems such as BrahMos missiles, Akash air defence systems, and the Suryastra rocket launcher, capable of striking targets up to 300 kilometres, featured prominently. The parade also displayed the Arjun battle tank, reinforcing India’s commitment to self-reliant defence production.
In addition, newly raised units made their debut at Kartavya Path. The Bhairav Light Commando Battalion and Shaktiban Regiment participated for the first time. Two-humped camels and Zanskar horses further added to the parade’s visual diversity, symbolising strength and tradition.
Disaster Response Tableau Draws Attention
Apart from military might, the parade highlighted India’s disaster response preparedness. To mark 25 years since the Bhuj earthquake, the Ministry of Home Affairs presented a tableau representing the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and NDRF. The display illustrated how NDRF teams rescue civilians during natural disasters, earning appreciation from spectators.
Overall, the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path delivered a strong message of national unity, defence readiness, and resilience. Through powerful visuals and meaningful themes, the event reinforced India’s progress in security, disaster management, and indigenous innovation.
