Popular music composer Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) is all set to make his acting debut as a lead hero with the upcoming film ‘Yellamma’. The makers unveiled the concept glimpse of the film on Thursday, marking the Sankranthi festival, and it has already created strong buzz across social media.
National Award-winning director Venu Yeldandi, who gained nationwide recognition with Balagam, is directing Yellamma. This project marks a major milestone in DSP’s career, as he steps in front of the camera after delivering several chart-topping albums over the years.
DSP Introduced as ‘Parshi’ in a Striking New Look
In the newly released glimpse, the team introduced Devi Sri Prasad as ‘Parshi’, a character rooted deeply in folk and spiritual elements. DSP appears with long hair, a thick beard, and a rugged look, playing a dappu without wearing a shirt. His intense screen presence immediately grabbed attention.
The visuals feature whirling neem leaves, a stormy backdrop, a goat, and strong folk symbolism, giving the glimpse a raw and spiritual tone. These elements suggest that Ellamma will explore folk traditions blended with social and emotional themes. The glimpse also highlights the film’s grounded narrative style, which aligns with director Venu Yeldandi’s storytelling approach.
Folk Musical Social Drama on the Way
Sources indicate that Ellamma is shaping up as a folk-based musical social drama. Devi Sri Prasad is also composing the music for the film, adding another layer of interest. Given his musical legacy, expectations are high for the film’s soundtrack.
Renowned production house Sri Venkateswara Creations is backing the project, with Dil Raju presenting the film and Shirish producing it. Meanwhile, T-Series has acquired the music rights, further strengthening the project’s reach.
Pan-India Release Planned
The makers have confirmed that Ellamma will release as a pan-India film in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. This strategy aims to introduce Devi Sri Prasad as an actor to a wider audience across the country.
Although several names surfaced earlier for the lead role, the team finally locked DSP as the hero. The producers have announced that details about the supporting cast and technical crew will be revealed soon.
Release Plans This Year
The production team is planning to release the film later this year. With a powerful concept, a respected director, and DSP’s unique transition from composer to actor, Ellamma has already emerged as one of the most talked-about upcoming Telugu films.
The concept glimpse has set the tone, and fans are now eagerly waiting for more updates from the makers.
