Visakhapatnam: The popular double-decker electric bus service in Visakhapatnam now runs up to the famous Simhachalam temple. Tourism officials launched the extended route on Thursday. They said the new service will benefit both tourists and devotees who travel to the temple.
The bright red electric buses already attract many visitors along the beach road. Now, the same buses will operate up to the Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple. Officials took this decision after noticing the growing demand for better transport to the hill shrine.
The extended route offers a unique travel experience. Passengers on the upper deck can enjoy wide views of the city and the greenery around the temple hill. The tourism team said the ride will impress first-time visitors and photography lovers.
The electric buses also support Visakhapatnam’s push for clean and eco-friendly travel. They do not release any emissions, making the journey safe and environment-friendly. Officials believe this adds more value to the city’s green mobility efforts.
Tourism staff expect more visitors to travel to Simhachalam because of this new service. Families and children can enjoy the scenic ride, while devotees can reach the temple more comfortably. Many locals welcomed the initiative and said the buses add charm to the city’s tourism appeal.
The department plans to track passenger response over the next few weeks. If the demand increases, they may add more trips on weekends and festival days.
The new route is set to boost religious tourism and improve the overall travel experience in the region.
