South Indian cinema has dominated the North Indian box office in recent years, and Pushpa 2 stood as the biggest example of that trend. The film created history by collecting ₹425 crore in its opening week, a record many believed would remain untouched for a long time. However, Ranveer Singh’s Durnadar changed the conversation by rewriting the rules of box office success through sustained performance rather than explosive openings.
Unlike Pushpa 2, Durnadar did not rely on a massive first week. The film collected ₹207 crore in its opening week, which appeared modest compared to Pushpa’s numbers. However, strong storytelling and emotional appeal helped the film connect deeply with family audiences from the second week onward. As a result, collections remained steady week after week.
While Pushpa 2 witnessed a sharp decline after the fourth week, with collections slipping into single digits, Durnadar maintained double-digit figures until its seventh week. This long-run strength proved to be the film’s biggest advantage at the Hindi box office.
By the end of seven weeks, Durnadar recorded ₹829.40 crore in net Hindi collections. In comparison, Pushpa 2 closed its Hindi run at ₹810.10 crore. With this achievement, Ranveer Singh’s film established a new benchmark in Bollywood, proving that consistency can outperform even record-breaking openings.
Meanwhile, industry buzz has already shifted toward Allu Arjun’s next project, AA22, directed by Atlee. Trade circles strongly believe that the combination has the potential to challenge existing Hindi box office records once again.
With changing audience preferences, the Durnadar vs Pushpa 2 race highlights a new truth in cinema—long-term audience connection now matters more than opening-week hype.
