Once the UAN is activated, members can easily access all PF-related services through epfindia.gov.in The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued an important update for private-sector employees. The organisation announced that Universal Account Number (UAN) activation is now mandatory to access any Provident Fund (PF)–related services online.
According to EPFO, members will not be able to check their PF balance, withdraw money, view their passbook, or use any other online service unless their UAN is activated. The clarification was shared through EPFO’s official social media handle on X (formerly Twitter).
EPFO also explained that many subscribers still have inactive UANs, which prevents them from using online facilities. The organisation urged all PF account holders to complete the activation process to avoid future inconvenience.
