A tragic road accident claimed the lives of four students in the Mokila area of Rangareddy district during the early hours of Thursday. The incident occurred near Mirjaguda when a car lost control and rammed into a tree, leading to instant deaths at the spot.
According to police officials, the accident took place while the students were returning to Hyderabad from Mokila. On receiving information, police rushed to the scene and began rescue and investigation efforts.
The deceased have been identified as Suryateja, Sumit, Rohit and Srinikhil. Three of them were students of ICFAI University, while one was pursuing studies at MGIT. Another student, Nakshatra, sustained serious injuries in the accident. She was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the car badly damaged. Police suspect overspeeding as a possible cause of the accident, though a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the student community and the respective institutions. Police have registered a case and informed the families of the victims. Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
