The India Meteorological Department (IMD) at the Meteorological Centre in Amaravati, Guntur district, has issued a five-day fog and mist alert for several regions of Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. The warning will remain in effect from January 7 to January 11, 2026.
fog expected in coastal and rayalaseema regions
According to the IMD forecast, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam will experience fog or mist at isolated places throughout the five-day period. On January 7 and January 8, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema will also see similar weather conditions.
These foggy conditions may reduce visibility during early morning hours. As a result, commuters and motorists should remain alert, especially on highways and rural roads.
limited impact after january 8
From January 9 onwards, fog or mist will mainly affect North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Other regions are likely to witness clearer weather. Therefore, the overall impact will reduce slightly in the later part of the forecast period.
minimum temperatures to stay stable
The IMD stated that minimum temperatures will remain steady across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema. Officials do not expect any major change in night temperatures during these five days.
safety advisory for early commuters
Weather officials advised people to take precautions while travelling in the early morning. Fog can lower visibility and increase accident risks. Hence, drivers should slow down and use fog lights when required.
The IMD will continue to track weather conditions closely. Residents should follow official updates for the latest advisories and warnings.
