Foreign experts continued their inspection of the Polavaram Project in Andhra Pradesh for the second day, focusing on dam safety and construction quality. The team reviewed key works at the main dam and checked whether the ongoing methods meet global standards. Their visit aims to support timely execution while ensuring strength, stability, and long-term safety.
On Tuesday, the experts examined soil stabilisation at Gap-1 of the main dam. They dug into compacted areas and stepped inside the pits to check soil strength. By doing so, they assessed consolidation levels directly. In addition, they observed embankment soil placement at another site. The team watched how workers laid the soil and strengthened it using heavy rollers. They also checked compaction results after rolling.
Earlier, the experts met Central and State Water Resources officials and MEIL representatives. During this meeting, officers cleared doubts raised after the first day’s visit. They also discussed the design and layout of Gap-2 in detail. Senior engineers shared field data and explained construction steps clearly.
Meanwhile, the experts reviewed the inputs alongside their site observations. After careful checks, they resolved key technical queries. Overall, the visit helped strengthen coordination and reinforced confidence in the Polavaram Project’s progress.
