In a major food safety crackdown, the sleuths of the Task Force, Khairtabad Zone Team of the Hyderabad City Police, seized 4,000 kilograms of adulterated and expired ginger and garlic paste during a surprise inspection in Hyderabad. The accused, Jasani Ilyan (21), allegedly manufactured the paste under highly unhygienic conditions and supplied it in bulk to restaurants, wholesale shops, and retail stores across the city.
Acting on credible information, the police conducted a raid at a premises near Railway Gate in MS Maqtha under the limits of Lake Police Station. During the inspection, officers discovered that the accused was preparing ginger and garlic paste in plastic containers without maintaining basic hygiene standards.
Paste Stored in Open Containers
Investigators found the prepared paste stored in open plastic tubs. The containers were exposed to dust, flies, and other contaminants. As a result, the product became unsafe and unfit for human consumption. Moreover, officials confirmed that the accused printed an expired FSSAI License number (13624010000299) on the products to mislead buyers.
Police said the adulterated paste was hazardous to public health. Despite this, the accused allegedly continued large-scale distribution to general kirana stores and eateries in and around Hyderabad to earn illegal profits.
