Tirupati : Sri Venkateswara Gosamrakshana Trust in Tirupati celebrated Go Puja in a grand and devotional manner on Friday as part of the Kanuma festival. The event reflected the spiritual and cultural importance of gosamrakshana, which remains a key tradition under the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
TTD Executive Officer Sri Anil Kumar Singhal and TTD Board Member Sri Bhanu Prakash Reddy attended the programme and took part in the rituals. Their participation added prominence to the celebrations and inspired devotees who gathered in large numbers at the trust premises.
Special rituals at Venugopala Swamy Temple
Priests conducted special poojas at the Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple, located within the Gosamrakshana Trust campus. Following this, they performed Gauri Puja and Tulasi Puja as per tradition. These rituals symbolised prosperity, purity, and gratitude during the Kanuma festival.
Later, priests offered poojas to elephants, horses, bulls, and cows maintained by the trust. They performed camphor harati and distributed fodder to the animals. This ritual highlighted the sacred bond between humans and animals in Hindu culture and stressed the importance of animal welfare.
Cultural programmes add devotional spirit
The celebrations also featured bhajans and kolatams organised under the Dasasahitya Project. Artists presented devotional songs and folk dances, which filled the premises with spiritual energy. Devotees actively participated and appreciated the cultural programmes.
Gosamrakshana Trust In-charge Director Dr. Siva Kumar, along with other officials, supervised the arrangements and ensured the smooth conduct of the event. Devotees praised TTD for maintaining tradition while also focusing on the care of animals.

The Go Puja once again showcased TTD’s commitment to cow protection and animal care, which form the backbone of Sanatana Dharma. Through such festivals, the Gosamrakshana Trust continues to preserve religious values and pass them on to future generations.
