India Is the Birthplace of Ancient Science: CM Chandrababu Naidu
Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said India has been a global leader in science since ancient times and called for renewed pride in the country’s knowledge traditions. He made these remarks while addressing the Bharatiya Vigyan Sammelan held in Tirupati.
Speaking at the event, Chandrababu Naidu praised RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his efforts to preserve Indian culture and traditions. He described the Sammelan as an important platform to discuss India’s scientific heritage and the idea of Indianness.
Ancient India’s Scientific Legacy
The Chief Minister said India introduced the world to advanced science thousands of years ago. He cited the Harappan civilisation as an early example of urban planning. He also noted that India practised yoga nearly 2,900 years ago and Ayurveda about 2,600 years ago. Today, more than 150 countries follow yoga due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added.
Chandrababu Naidu highlighted ancient universities like Takshashila and Nalanda as centres of global education. He said India gave the concept of zero to the world and invented chess, which sharpens human intelligence. He also recalled contributions by Aryabhatta, Bhaskaracharya, Charaka, Dhanvantari, and Kautilya, calling them a constant source of inspiration.
Teaching Mythology to Children
The CM stressed the need to teach children about Indian mythology instead of focusing only on fictional superheroes. He said Hanuman is greater than Superman and Arjuna is a greater warrior than modern movie characters. He added that the values of Lord Rama and the Ramayana help children understand the difference between good and evil.
India’s Growth Vision
Chandrababu Naidu said India is on track to become the third-largest economy by 2038 and a world power by 2047. He highlighted major projects in Andhra Pradesh, including a Space City in Tirupati, a Drone City in Kurnool, an Aerospace City in Anantapur, and a MedTech Park in Visakhapatnam. He also mentioned Google’s $15 billion investment in Visakhapatnam and the promotion of quantum computing in Amaravati.
Scientific Progress and Defence Strength
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, speaking at the same event, said India has made major strides in innovation, space technology, and defence exports. He noted growing global demand for BrahMos missiles and said India has emerged as a key exporter of Covid vaccines, reflecting its scientific and technological strength.
