The government reduced it to 40 per cent last year. Now, the complete removal of this duty offers major relief to premium brands like Harley-Davidson.

Import Duty Cut on Luxury Cars Too
The government has also taken a bold step in the luxury car segment. For high-end cars with engine capacities above 3000cc, import duties have dropped sharply. Earlier, these vehicles faced duties as high as 110 per cent. The government has now reduced this to 30 per cent.
This decision could make American luxury cars more affordable for Indian buyers. As a result, demand in the premium car segment may rise. The move may also attract fresh investments into India’s automobile sector.
