A heated debate erupted in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council over allegations that Heritage Foods supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. The issue dominated proceedings after YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) members moved an adjournment motion seeking a discussion. However, Council Chairman Moshen Raju rejected the motion, leading to protests inside the House.
YSRCP Demands Discussion with Evidence
YSRCP members alleged that Heritage ghee was supplied to TTD under the name of Indapur Dairy. They claimed to possess evidence supporting their charge. Therefore, they insisted that the Council take up the matter for debate. The opposition argued that the issue involved public faith and demanded transparency.
However, the Chairman declined the adjournment motion, stating that the matter did not meet procedural requirements. This decision immediately intensified tensions in the House.
Minister Atchannaidu Throws a Challenge
In response, Minister Atchannaidu challenged the opposition to present concrete proof. He said the government was ready for a discussion if YSRCP submitted verifiable evidence. Moreover, he questioned the intent behind raising the issue without placing documents before the Chair.
Despite the minister’s statement, YSRCP members continued to press for an immediate debate. They maintained that they had sufficient material to back their claims and accused the government of avoiding accountability.
Council Adjourned Amid Protests
As protests intensified, the situation in the House became tense. YSRCP members staged a demonstration, demanding that the Heritage ghee supply issue be discussed without delay. Consequently, the Council was adjourned shortly after it convened.
The controversy has now taken a political turn, with both sides standing firm. While the government seeks documentary proof, the opposition insists that the matter deserves urgent attention. The coming sessions may witness further debate as the issue continues to spark political heat in Andhra Pradesh.
