A deadly road accident claimed the lives of two engineering students on the outskirts of Hyderabad under the Medipally police station limits. The crash occurred when a speeding car lost control near Medipally and slammed into a flyover pillar. The impact crushed the vehicle completely and killed two occupants on the spot. Two others suffered serious injuries and are undergoing treatment. Police said overspeeding appears to be the primary cause of the accident.
The incident took place while the car was travelling at high speed from Boduppal towards IT Pocharam. According to initial findings, the driver failed to control the vehicle near the flyover, which led to the violent collision. Residents rushed to the scene after hearing a loud crash and alerted emergency services. Ambulances shifted the injured to a nearby government hospital for immediate medical care.
Accident Details and Police Action
Medipally police identified the deceased as engineering students from Wanaparthy district. Officers said the force of the collision left the car badly mangled, making rescue efforts difficult. Meanwhile, doctors described the condition of the injured students as critical. Hospital authorities confirmed that they are receiving intensive treatment.
Police registered a case and began an investigation into the incident. Officials are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to understand the exact sequence of events. They are also checking whether alcohol consumption or reckless driving contributed to the crash. However, preliminary assessment points strongly towards excessive speed.
Rising Concern Over Overspeeding
The accident has once again raised concerns over road safety on Hyderabad’s outskirts. Traffic police have repeatedly warned motorists about the dangers of overspeeding, especially on stretches near flyovers. Despite these warnings, violations continue to cause fatal accidents.
Authorities urged drivers to follow speed limits and traffic rules to prevent such tragedies. Meanwhile, families of the victims reached Hyderabad after receiving the news, leaving the local community in shock. The incident serves as a grim reminder of how a moment of rash driving can lead to irreversible loss.
