India suffered a defeat against New Zealand in the fourth T20I after failing to chase a challenging target of 216 runs. The Indian team got bowled out for 165 in 18.4 overs, allowing New Zealand to secure a convincing victory.
Shivam Dube played a fighting knock and top-scored with 65 runs. Rinku Singh supported him with 39 runs. Sanju Samson scored 24 off 15 balls before returning to the pavilion. Abhishek Sharma failed to open his account, while Suryakumar Yadav managed only eight runs. Hardik Pandya also struggled and departed after scoring two runs.
New Zealand bowlers delivered a disciplined performance. Mitchell Santner picked up three wickets. Jacob Duffy and Ish Sodhi claimed two wickets each. Matt Henry and Zak Foulkes chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Earlier, New Zealand posted a strong total after batting first. Openers Tim Seifert and Devon Conway gave the team a flying start. Seifert smashed 62 runs off 36 balls, while Conway added 44 off 23 deliveries. Glenn Phillips scored a quick 24 off 16 balls to maintain the momentum. Daryl Mitchell finished unbeaten with 39 runs off 18 balls.
New Zealand ended their innings at 215 for seven in the allotted 20 overs. Despite the loss, India continues to lead the series after winning the first three matches. The fifth and final T20I will take place on January 31 in Thiruvananthapuram.
