A massive fire in a seven-story commercial building in central Jakarta claimed at least 17 lives on Monday, leaving the city in shock. The blaze, which began on the first floor, quickly spread to the upper levels, trapping several people inside.
Firefighters battled the flames for hours before finally bringing the situation under control. Authorities are now working to identify the victims and locate anyone who may still be trapped.
According to Central Jakarta Police, many employees were inside the building when the fire erupted. Some were eating lunch, while others had stepped out, which made it difficult to determine the exact number of people inside at the time of the incident.

Rescue teams are continuing their search operations floor by floor to ensure no one remains trapped in the structure. Officials confirmed that the building houses the office of Terra Drone Indonesia.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and an investigation is underway.
