The Indian Navy has grandly launched the prestigious International Fleet Review 2026 in Visakhapatnam. This marks the third time in India’s history that the country is hosting the mega naval event. Notably, Visakhapatnam has become the venue for the second time after successfully organising the Fleet Review in 2016. By choosing the same city again in 2026, the Navy has reaffirmed Vizag’s strategic and maritime importance.
The ten-day celebrations will continue until February 25. Around 4,000 delegates from nearly 50 countries and more than 70 advanced warships are participating. Throughout the event, the coastal city will shine with naval uniforms, illuminated vessels, and vibrant ceremonies.
A Combination of Three Major Naval Events
This year’s celebrations extend beyond the Fleet Review. Along with the IFR, the Navy is conducting the multilateral naval exercise “Milan” and the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium in the same city. These platforms will bring together Indian Ocean nations and global maritime partners to discuss regional security, cooperation, and strategic coordination.
The Navy inaugurated a special “Milan Village” on Sunday evening, marking the ceremonial beginning of the festivities. The village showcases cultural stalls representing all Indian states, offering international guests a glimpse of India’s diverse traditions. Visitors are calling it a “Mini India” by the sea.
President to Review Warships
One of the most anticipated highlights will take place on February 18, when Droupadi Murmu will review the assembled warships. The event will underline India’s growing naval strength and global maritime presence.
On February 19, the International City Parade at RK Beach will draw massive public attention. N. Chandrababu Naidu is expected to attend the parade, adding political and ceremonial significance to the occasion.
Spectacular Naval Exercises at Sea
From February 21 to 25, advanced naval drills in the Bay of Bengal will captivate spectators. Previously limited to the Andaman region, the Milan exercises have now shifted to Visakhapatnam due to its superior infrastructure and strategic facilities. This move not only strengthens operational coordination but also boosts the city’s tourism sector.
The event offers citizens a rare opportunity to witness foreign warships and submarines up close. More importantly, it allows India to showcase its naval capabilities to the world while strengthening maritime partnerships.
With global participation and high-level ceremonies, the International Fleet Review 2026 stands as a powerful symbol of India’s expanding maritime influence and Visakhapatnam’s rising global profile.
