Kuwait has introduced new fees for entry and visit visas under updated executive regulations. The new rules came into effect on December 23, according to the Kuwait Ministry of Interior. The government aims to regulate residency procedures and improve immigration compliance through these changes.

Monthly Visa Fee Made Mandatory

Under the revised guidelines, all entry and visit visa holders must now pay a monthly fee of 10 Kuwaiti dinars. This rule applies to visitors, investors, employees, and residents. Authorities stated that the decision will help standardize visa categories and ensure proper monitoring of foreign nationals.

Earlier, visa fee structures varied by category. However, the new system introduces a uniform monthly charge. Officials believe this will reduce confusion and bring more transparency to the residency process.

New Rules for Registering Births of Foreign Nationals

Alongside visa fee changes, Kuwait has tightened rules for birth registration of foreign residents. Expatriates must register a newborn’s birth within four months from the date of birth. The Ministry warned that delays will lead to financial penalties.

If residents miss the deadline, they must pay a fine of 2 Kuwaiti dinars per day during the first month of delay. After that, the penalty increases to 4 Kuwaiti dinars per day. Authorities stressed that timely registration is mandatory and non-negotiable.

Government’s Objective Behind the Changes

The Ministry clarified that the new rules aim to organize residency records and reduce administrative delays. Officials said the measures will strengthen data accuracy and improve public services. They also urged expatriates to stay updated with official announcements.

Impact on Expats and Visitors

The new regulations are expected to impact a large expatriate population in Kuwait. Visitors and residents must now plan their stays carefully to avoid fines. Authorities advised individuals to complete all legal formalities on time to prevent penalties.
