Devotees from Karnataka have begun a sacred foot pilgrimage to Srisailam to seek the blessings of Lord Mallikarjuna. With deep faith and devotion, they are walking long distances to reach the holy hill shrine, turning the journey itself into an act of worship.
Forest Route Restriction Alters Pilgrimage Path
Initially, the pilgrims planned to travel through the forest route from Venkatapuram near Atmakur in Nandyal district. However, forest officials denied permission for this stretch. As a result, the devotees changed their route and continued the padayatra via Dornala in Markapur district. Despite the longer path, their enthusiasm has not faded.
Roads Echo with Shiva Chants
Meanwhile, the roads along the pilgrimage route resonate with chants of “Om Namah Shivaya.” Groups of devotees walk together, carrying faith in their hearts and discipline in their steps. Their journey has drawn attention from locals, who are offering water and support along the way.
Special Permission Window Announced
To ease the movement of devotees, forest authorities announced a special permission window. From February 8 to February 15, pilgrims will receive conditional approval to pass through the Venkatapuram forest route. This decision aims to balance devotion with forest safety and regulation.
Faith Drives Every Step
Even with route changes and restrictions, devotees continue their journey with unwavering belief. Their determination reflects the spiritual pull of Srisailam and the timeless bond between Lord Mallikarjuna and his devotees.
