Indian women’s cricket team star pacer Kranti Goud has achieved more than sporting glory. Along with scripting India’s memorable World Cup victory, she has helped restore the dignity of her family. The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday issued orders to reinstate her father, Munna Singh Goud, who was dismissed from police service 13 years ago.
Father returns to police duty after 13 years
Munna Singh Goud, a resident of Chhatarpur district, earlier served as a police constable. However, authorities dismissed him from service in 2012, citing alleged negligence during election duties. Since then, the family struggled financially. Kranti’s brothers worked as daily laborers and bus conductors to support the household.
Despite these hardships, Kranti remained focused on cricket. Through determination and discipline, she earned a place in the Indian women’s cricket team, eventually becoming one of the country’s most promising fast bowlers.
World Cup heroics change family’s fate
Kranti Goud played a crucial role in India’s Women’s One-Day World Cup victory. She delivered consistent performances and picked up 9 wickets in 8 matches, emerging as a key contributor to the title-winning campaign.
When Chief Minister Mohan Yadav felicitated her in November, Kranti spoke openly about her family’s struggles. She expressed a heartfelt wish to see her father wear the police uniform again and requested the Chief Minister to allow him to retire with dignity. Moved by her story, the CM assured her of support.
CM keeps promise, issues reinstatement orders
Fulfilling his promise, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav directed the police department to reinstate Munna Singh Goud. Following his orders, the Police Headquarters issued the reinstatement letter, allowing him to rejoin duty as a constable.
Madhya Pradesh Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang confirmed the decision and said the government stands with sportspersons and their families. He added that the state recognizes the sacrifices athletes make while representing the nation.
