Vijayawada is gearing up for a grand cultural celebration as the city prepares to host the 2025 edition of Krishnaveeni Sangeeta Neerajanam, a two-day classical music festival designed to promote tourism and highlight Andhra Pradesh’s rich musical heritage. The event will run on December 6 and 7 at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram.
The Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture (Sangeet Natak Akademi), along with the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department, will jointly conduct the festival. Regional Director (South) of the Union Tourism Ministry D. Venkatesan shared the event details during a press conference at Park Hyatt Hotel, Gunadala, on Friday. Ramishetti Veeraswamy, President of the Andhra Pradesh Star Hotels Association (ASHA), also addressed the media.
Tourism Minister to Inaugurate Event
Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh will inaugurate the festival on Friday morning. He noted that Vijayawada continues to thrive as a cultural hub, mainly because of its deep-rooted classical music traditions. With this festival, the city aims to further strengthen its cultural identity.
Celebrating Telugu Musical Heritage
This year’s theme, “The Greatness of Telugu Musical Traditions,” focuses on showcasing the classical and devotional music legacy of the region. The program includes Harikatha, Sankirtana, Veena concerts, vocal recitals and group renditions of Pancharatna Kritis. Moreover, renowned musicians and students from leading institutions across Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana will take part. They will present 18 concerts, featuring 98 performers, over two days.
Cultural Exhibitions & Craft Bazaars
Along with the musical events, the festival will also feature handloom exhibitions, craft bazaars and displays presented by local artisans and weavers. These attractions aim to boost cultural tourism and encourage traditional crafts. As a result, visitors can enjoy both art and culture under one roof.
Boost to Music Tourism
ASHA President Ramishetti Veeraswamy explained that the festival will significantly promote music tourism in the state. He pointed out that the coordination between central and state tourism departments, cultural organisations and star hotel managements will improve Andhra Pradesh’s visibility as a cultural destination. After the briefing, officials unveiled the official festival brochure.
