A leopard attacked and killed a deer near the Alipiri check post in Tirupati, prompting Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) vigilance officials to alert devotees heading to Tirumala. The incident occurred close to the security checkpoint, raising concerns among pilgrims and locals. Officials have increased monitoring in the area and advised visitors to remain cautious.
The attack reportedly took place near the Alipiri footpath entry point, a key route used by thousands of devotees who walk to Tirumala every day. TTD vigilance staff noticed the dead deer near the check post during routine inspection. After confirming signs of a leopard attack, they immediately informed forest authorities and stepped up surveillance.
As a precaution, vigilance teams began warning devotees about the possible presence of the leopard in nearby forest stretches. They urged pilgrims not to walk alone, especially during early morning and late evening hours. Authorities also advised families with children to remain in groups while using the Alipiri footpath.
Forest department officials are expected to install camera traps and track the animals’ movement. Meanwhile, security personnel have intensified patrolling around the check post and adjoining areas. The presence of wild animals near Tirupati is not uncommon, as the region borders dense forest zones. However, such incidents near busy pilgrimage routes often create anxiety among devotees.
TTD officials assured the public that they are taking all necessary safety measures. They requested pilgrims to follow official instructions and avoid panic. Further updates are awaited as forest teams monitor the situation closely.
