In a shocking incident from Madhya Pradesh, a minor girl delivered a baby in the washroom of her 10th-grade board examination centre. The student, hailing from the Bethma area in Indore district, had travelled to a school in Pithampur, Dhar district, to appear for her Mathematics exam on Tuesday.
Shortly after the exam began, the girl experienced severe abdominal pain and asked to use the washroom. When she did not return after some time, the exam staff grew concerned. Soon, they heard a baby crying from inside the washroom. Female staff rushed in and discovered that the student had given birth.
The exam centre staff immediately called an ambulance. Both the girl and her newborn were transported to a nearby government hospital. Doctors confirmed that both are in stable condition and are being closely monitored.
Authorities have launched an official investigation into the incident. The police and the education department are working together to understand the circumstances leading to the delivery. Notably, neither the school management nor her fellow students were aware that the girl was pregnant.
Officials are also investigating whether sexual harassment or abuse contributed to the pregnancy. As part of the legal probe, family members are being questioned to determine the background and ensure accountability.
This extraordinary case has raised concerns about student safety and the need for increased awareness in schools. Authorities have urged schools to remain vigilant and provide support systems for students facing personal and medical emergencies.
