Actress Manchu Lakshmi appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) connection with the probe into the promotion of banned online betting applications. She attended the inquiry at the CID office in Lakdikapool, where officials questioned her for several hours.
According to sources, CID officers asked Manchu Lakshmi about the remuneration she received for promoting betting apps. They also sought details on commissions earned, the nature of promotional agreements, and the individuals or agencies involved in facilitating these deals. Investigators focused on how the contracts were signed and the financial transactions linked to the endorsements.
This is not the first time Manchu Lakshmi has faced questioning in the case. Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) examined her over financial dealings related to betting app promotions. During that inquiry, ED officials reportedly questioned her on payment trails and contractual terms.
Meanwhile, the betting apps case has already drawn several prominent film personalities into its ambit. Actors Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, and Prakash Raj have previously appeared before authorities and submitted their explanations.
The case has gained significance amid concerns that illegal betting platforms mislead youth and cause financial harm. As authorities tighten scrutiny on celebrity endorsements, officials indicate that the investigation may lead to further developments in the coming days.
