Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of development projects worth around ₹13,430 crore in Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh. This gives a strong boost to infrastructure, energy, defence manufacturing, and industry. The projects mark a major milestone in the State’s economic expansion and connectivity drive.
Developed India through a developed Andhra Pradesh: Modi
Addressing a massive gathering, PM Modi invoked blessings from Lord Narasimha Swamy of Ahobilam and Shri Mahanandishwara Swamy of Mahanandi. He paid tribute to the saints and freedom fighters of Rayalaseema.
“Andhra Pradesh is a land of pride, rich culture, and innovation. Its youth represent limitless potential,” the Prime Minister said.
He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The collaboration between Delhi and Amaravati is called a symbol of ‘double-engine speed governance’.
Infrastructure to power connectivity
The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several key infrastructure projects, including:
- A six-lane greenfield highway between Sabbavaram and Sheelanagar, worth ₹960 crore, is designed to decongest Visakhapatnam.
- Six additional road projects across the state are worth over ₹1,140 crore, improving logistics and regional access.
In the railway sector, PM Modi launched projects exceeding ₹1,200 crore. These include the Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram Fourth Railway Line and new rail flyovers between Pendurti and Simhachalam North. They will ease passenger flow, boost freight capacity, and strengthen industrial corridors.
Energy and industrial growth on a fast track
Underscoring the Centre’s focus on energy security, PM Modi launched a ₹3,000 crore transmission project at the Kurnool-III Pooling Station. This will expand renewable energy capacity. He also dedicated the Srikakulam-Angul Natural Gas Pipeline (GAIL) and inaugurated IOCL’s LPG bottling plant in Chittoor. This plant is expected to serve over 7.2 lakh households.
The foundation stones for Orvakal and Kopparthy Industrial Areas were laid jointly by NICDIT and APIIC. This involves investments of over ₹4,920 crore. These hubs are expected to attract ₹21,000 crore in private investment and create nearly one lakh jobs. As a result, Andhra Pradesh will become a manufacturing powerhouse.
PM Modi inaugurated Bharat Electronics Limited’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru, Krishna district. This facility was built at a cost of ₹360 crore. The unit will manufacture next-gen electro-optical systems for India’s armed forces. Consequently, it will boost defence self-reliance and generate skilled employment.
Visakhapatnam set to become India’s AI and data gateway
Highlighting a landmark investment by Google, the Prime Minister announced that India’s first Artificial Intelligence Hub will be established in Andhra Pradesh. The project includes an International Subsea Gateway at Visakhapatnam. It will link India’s eastern coast to global digital networks.
“Visakhapatnam will soon become a global hub for AI, data, and connectivity,” Modi said, congratulating the people of Andhra Pradesh.
He also lauded the State’s efforts to develop Kurnool as India’s Drone Hub. It connects to the Operation Sindoor success story and the nation’s growing drone ecosystem.
Relief, reforms, and roadmap to 2047
PM Modi emphasised citizen-centric reforms that have transformed lives. He noted that income up to ₹12 lakh is now tax-free. Furthermore, GST reforms have led to ₹8,000 crore in annual savings for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
“The dream of a developed India will be realised through a developed Andhra Pradesh,” he reiterated. This underlines the Centre’s continued commitment to the State’s growth.
The Prime Minister praised the contribution of Rayalaseema’s people to the nation’s progress. He expressed confidence that the new projects launched in Kurnool will create thousands of jobs and new business opportunities.
The event saw the presence of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Governor Syed Abdul Nazeer, and Union Ministers Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, and Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma, among others.
Together, they reaffirmed that the Centre–State partnership will continue to power Andhra Pradesh. It aims to become India’s most dynamic investment destination.
