Mouni Roy Ends Event Early After Harassment in Karnal
Bollywood actress Mouni Roy faced a disturbing experience during a public event in Karnal, Haryana, where she was subjected to inappropriate behaviour by attendees. The incident forced the actress to end her stage appearance earlier than planned. Roy later shared her distress publicly, raising serious concerns about women’s safety at public events, even for well-known figures in the film industry.
Inappropriate Touching During Photo Session
According to Roy, the incident occurred while she was interacting with guests and posing for photographs. She stated that two elderly guests, along with their male family members, touched her waist inappropriately under the excuse of clicking pictures. The repeated behaviour made her visibly uncomfortable and disrupted the event atmosphere.
Obscene Gestures From the Audience
The situation worsened when Roy noticed two individuals in the audience making obscene gestures while she was on stage. She also observed them recording videos during the act. The lack of basic decency and respect left the actress shaken, prompting her to cut short her scheduled performance.
No Support From Organisers or Attendees
Roy expressed strong disappointment over the absence of intervention. She revealed that neither the event organisers nor the family members of those involved attempted to stop the harassment. The silence and inaction, she said, added to her distress and highlighted a larger issue of accountability at public gatherings.
Concern for Young Women in the Industry
In a candid Instagram story, Roy questioned the safety of newcomers in the film industry. She pointed out that if an established actress could face such behaviour in public, young women starting their careers might be even more vulnerable. She urged authorities to take the matter seriously and ensure strict action to prevent similar incidents.
Professional Commitments Continue
Despite the incident, Roy remains active professionally. She was recently seen in the series Salaakar and is currently working on the film Hi Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai. She is also set to appear in a special song in Chiranjeevi’s upcoming film Vishwambhara.
The Karnal incident has once again sparked debate on public safety, respect, and the urgent need for stronger safeguards for women at events across the country.
