‘Mowgli’, starring Roshan Kanakala, marks his second film as a lead actor. Directed by Sandeep Raj and produced by Vishwa Prasad, the film released in theatres on December 13 and started streaming on ETV Win from January 1. Let’s take a closer look at how the film fares.
Story
Set in Parvathipuram, a village near a dense forest, the story follows Muralikrishna, an orphan raised by the village and the forest around it. Everyone calls him Mowgli. His dream is to become a police officer. To survive, he works as a junior artist during film shoots held in the area.
During one such shoot, Mowgli meets Jasmine, another junior artist. Their silent bond soon turns into love. However, trouble begins when film hero Viraj and police officer Christopher set their eyes on Jasmine. Both use their power and money to separate the lovers. The rest of the story revolves around how Mowgli fights back to protect his love.
Analysis
Director Sandeep Raj presents a mix of love, emotion, and action against a forest backdrop. While the setting feels refreshing, the narrative remains slow and predictable, especially in the first half. The second half improves slightly but lacks strong twists to sustain curiosity. Emotional moments work in parts, but routine storytelling limits the impact.
Performances & Technical Aspects
Roshan Kanakala delivers a sincere performance, while Bandi Saroj Kumar stands out as the antagonist. The forest locations add visual strength. Ramamurthy’s cinematography is impressive, and Kaal Bhairava’s background score supports the mood. However, the editing feels uneven at times.
Verdict
‘Mowgli’ has a decent emotional core and strong visuals. Still, routine narration and slow pacing prevent it from becoming memorable. It may appeal to viewers who enjoy simple love stories set in rural backdrops.
