Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna said that his father, legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), worked selflessly to secure the future of thousands of students, even though he did not receive formal education himself.
Nagarjuna attended the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of ANR College in Gudivada, Krishna district. During the event, he inaugurated the RUSA building on the college campus.
Remembering ANR’s Vision for Education
Speaking on the occasion, Nagarjuna recalled that ANR donated Rs 1 lakh to the college in 1959, despite limited resources at the time. He said his father strongly believed that education could change lives.
Moreover, Nagarjuna announced a Rs 2 crore donation on behalf of his family to support student scholarships. He said the contribution aims to help deserving students achieve their goals.

Meanwhile, Nagarjuna shared a message on legacy and responsibility. He said people are not permanent, but their good deeds remain forever. Therefore, supporting education remains the family’s priority.
Former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, MLA Venigandla Ramu, and other dignitaries attended the programme. Overall, the event highlighted the Akkineni family’s long-standing commitment to education and social welfare.
