Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu conducted an emergency review via teleconference from the UAE on Wednesday as incessant rains hit Nellore, Prakasam, Tirupati, Kadapa and Annamayya districts. He ordered round-the-clock monitoring and rapid response measures to prevent any loss of life, property or crop damage due to heavy rainfall.
During the meeting with Ministers, Collectors of rain-affected districts and Real-Time Governance (RTG) officials, the Chief Minister released immediate relief funds, ₹2 crore each to Nellore, Chittoor and Prakasam districts and ₹1 crore each to other rain-hit districts.
During the review meeting, Naidu directed officials to deploy National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams without delay and ensure coordinated rescue operations involving revenue, police, disaster management, irrigation, municipal and electricity departments.
He instructed district administrations to operate control rooms in the south coastal and Rayalaseema districts; supply milk, food and essentials in rehabilitation centres; set up medical camps in vulnerable mandals; monitor irrigation tanks to prevent breaches; divert floodwater to reservoirs to protect crops and safeguard agriculture lands; and assess damage immediately.
The Chief Minister stressed strict vigilance and said every minute matters in disaster response, urging officials to be on high alert until the rain impact eases.
