Crown Prince’s Gesture Highlights Modi’s Jordan Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his two-day official visit to Jordan on Tuesday. The tour marked an important step in strengthening bilateral ties. After completing the visit, the Prime Minister left for Ethiopia as part of his overseas schedule.
Crown Prince Personally Hosts PM Modi
Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II showed a special gesture of goodwill during the visit. He personally drove Prime Minister Modi to the Jordan Museum in Amman. Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan briefed the Prime Minister on the country’s history and cultural heritage. Later, the Crown Prince also arrived at the airport to personally see Prime Minister Modi off.
Focus on Trade and Digital Cooperation
Prime Minister Modi took part in the India–Jordan Business Forum during the visit. He met King Abdullah II and held detailed talks on bilateral relations. Modi proposed increasing trade between the two nations to USD 5 billion. He also suggested exploring the integration of India’s UPI with Jordan’s digital payment system.
Key Agreements Signed
India and Jordan signed several Memorandums of Understanding during the visit. These agreements covered renewable energy, water management, and cultural cooperation. Both sides expressed confidence that these steps would boost long-term collaboration.
Modi Departs for Ethiopia
After completing the Jordan tour, Prime Minister Modi departed for Ethiopia at the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Authorities in Addis Ababa are preparing a grand welcome for him. The visit gains importance as it follows the African Union’s permanent membership in the G20 under India’s presidency.
Parliament Address Planned
During the Ethiopia visit, Prime Minister Modi will address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament. The visit reflects India’s growing engagement with African nations and its commitment to deeper partnerships.
