Anakapalli, Narsipatnam: Andhra Pradesh police carried out a major Narsipatnam cannabis seizure, confiscating cannabis worth ₹1.19 crore and arresting five people in Anakapalli district. The operation involved two Bolero vehicles, a car, a bike, and nine mobile phones that were seized during the investigation.
Strategic Check Leads to Big Bust
Natavaram police received a tip-off about suspicious vehicles near Vedurupalli village in Natavaram mandal. During the vehicle check, officials discovered 168 kg of cannabis hidden in the Bolero vehicles.
Key Suspects and Modus Operandi
The main accused, Gollapalli Haribabu, along with four others, used the two Bolero vehicles to purchase cannabis from Odisha and sell it in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, at nearly ₹50,000 per kg. Police revealed that the group had transported cannabis disguised as vegetables approximately 12 times before this bust.
Police Commended for Operation
Narsipatnam Sub-Division DSP Srinivas Rao organised a press conference to announce the operation. He commended KD Peta SI Rishikeshwara Rao and Natavaram SI Tarakeshwara Rao for successfully capturing the interstate cannabis network.
Support from Local Police
The operation involved Narsipatnam Rural CI Revathamma and Natavaram police personnel, including Satyanarayana, Varahalu, and Giri. The DSP confirmed that the main suspect had previous cannabis-related cases and that the police will continue to target such illegal operations aggressively.
