West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh: A shocking financial scam has surfaced at the Pasaladevi village post office in Narsapuram mandal. Branch Postmaster R.N.D.V. Prasad allegedly exploited customer trust and misappropriated nearly ₹30 lakh from accounts under his supervision.
Misuse of Savings and Deposits
According to complaints, the postmaster withdrew funds from savings accounts, fixed deposits, and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana accounts without informing account holders. Moreover, several customers claim that Prasad collected cash from them, kept their passbooks, and failed to record transactions digitally, effectively pocketing the money. In some cases, money deposited under his instruction was also allegedly misappropriated.
Public Protest Demands Action
When customers discovered the fraud, they immediately staged a protest outside the post office, demanding the return of their hard-earned money. Consequently, senior postal officials rushed to the Pasaladevi branch to inspect records carefully.
Investigation and Verification Underway
Currently, officials are cross-checking all passbooks with digital records to identify discrepancies. Additionally, they have urged customers to report any suspicious activity through the India Post Grievance Portal. Authorities assured that they are fast-tracking the investigation and will take strict action against the accused postmaster.
Victims’ Concerns and Next Steps
Meanwhile, account holders remain anxious about recovering their funds. However, postal officials have asked for patience while the verification and recovery process continues. They emphasised that they are committed to restoring the money and ensuring justice for the affected customers.
