Deputy Chief Minister Konidala Pawan Kalyan raised strong objections to the growing interference of MLAs in governance, warning that such actions are undermining administrative efficiency in Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking at the AP Cabinet meet chaired by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat on Monday, Pawan Kalyan said that in many areas, government work is moving forward only when MLAs give approval, contradicting the coalition government’s vision of transparent and people-centric administration.
“The coalition government is repeatedly emphasising political governance. But on the ground, the reality is different. In several places, work happens only with MLAs’ consent. If this continues, the very meaning of governance and public administration will be distorted,” Pawan cautioned during the AP Cabinet meet.
Pawan Kalyan urged the Chief Minister to intervene immediately and issue strict warnings to coalition MLAs, irrespective of party affiliations, to ensure efficient governance without political interference. The meeting reportedly witnessed heated discussions over the performance and conduct of legislators.
Land and revenue disputes trigger Cabinet debate
When Chief Minister Naidu stressed the need to resolve revenue disputes quickly, Pawan Kalyan pointed out that certain MLAs were still interfering in land disputes, despite earlier instructions for officials to handle such cases directly. He insisted that the Chief Minister should warn such MLAs without delay.
He also highlighted serious issues concerning red sanders smuggling and land encroachments by former Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, adding that he had recorded videos of these activities and would release them soon.
In response, the Chief Minister said that Ministers-in-charge must take responsibility for the conduct of coalition MLAs and ensure corrective action. “If any MLA makes a mistake, the in-charge minister must own the issue and rectify it promptly,” Naidu directed.
Model governance: Anantapur’s example
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav informed the Cabinet that the Anantapur district administration had successfully resolved nearly 400 land disputes, including cases under Section 22A, by coordinating efforts among Collectors, RDOs, and revenue officials. The Chief Minister appreciated the model and urged other districts to adopt similar best practices.
Naidu also praised Pawan Kalyan for his field visits and active involvement in addressing red sanders smuggling, describing it as ‘commendable ground-level leadership’.
Housing for the poor a top priority: CM Naidu
The Chief Minister instructed ministers and MLAs to ensure that all eligible poor families receive housing plots within a year. He asked officials to prepare detailed lists of beneficiaries and expedite the process of site allotment.
During the AP Cabinet meet, he emphasised that both ministers and MLAs must take responsibility for delivering welfare schemes effectively and ensuring that the benefits of development reach every household.
Youth awareness and investment drive
Focusing on the CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam on November 14–15, CM Naidu said the government’s efforts to attract investments and create jobs should be communicated effectively to the youth.
“It’s important that even high school students know how hard the government is working to bring industries and jobs to Andhra Pradesh. Awareness programmes must be conducted to highlight these efforts,” Naidu said.
Party offices and political infrastructure
When Minister Kandula Durgesh requested land allotment for Janasena Party offices, Minister Nadendla Manohar noted that such matters required a policy-level decision. CM Naidu intervened, stating that political parties must build their own offices.
“It took me 45 years to set up party offices in all districts,” Naidu said, commending the BJP for completing district offices across Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu praises the relief efforts of ministers during Cyclone Montha
CM Naidu lauded ministers and officials for their efficient relief work during Cyclone Montha, saying that rapid coordination from the village to the state level helped ensure immediate aid to victims.
He credited Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) monitoring and technological tools for reducing damage and saving lives. Naidu urged ministers to hold district-level review meetings regularly, conduct constituency grievance redressal sessions every Friday, and visit party offices monthly to stay connected with the people.
Lokesh calls for mentorship and focus on investments
Earlier in the day, Minister Nara Lokesh held a breakfast meeting with TDP ministers at Undavalli, where he stressed the need for senior MLAs to mentor first-time legislators.
“New MLAs should learn from the experiences of senior leaders — how they faced challenges and overcame them,” Lokesh said.
He called for collective efforts to make the CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam a success, noting that it could bring ₹10 lakh crore in investments and create lakhs of direct and indirect jobs.
Lokesh urged ministers to ensure the quick grounding of industries, actively participate in MSME Park inaugurations, and handle their departmental MoUs with accountability. He reaffirmed the government’s goal of creating 20 lakh jobs and called for renewed focus on industrial expansion.
