Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has reacted immediately to a serious complaint involving alleged medical negligence at King George Hospital (KGH), Visakhapatnam. A woman accused doctors and staff of negligence, which she said led to the death of her unborn child.
Woman Meets Pawan Kalyan at Airport
The incident came to light when Patnala Umadevi, the affected woman, met Pawan Kalyan at the Visakhapatnam airport on Friday night. At the time, the Deputy Chief Minister was returning after completing his official tour.
During the brief interaction, the woman explained her ordeal in detail. She said she had approached the Deputy Chief Minister, hoping for justice.
Allegations of Negligence at KGH
According to the woman, she was admitted to KGH in the first week of December last year for delivery. She alleged that doctors and hospital staff treated her and her family with negligence and insensitivity.
She stated that even after the delivery deadline passed, doctors insisted on a normal delivery. Meanwhile, her family repeatedly expressed concern about her worsening condition. However, she claimed that staff ignored their pleas.
Claims of Inhuman Treatment During Delivery
The woman further alleged that hospital staff used harsh language against her family. She also claimed that she suffered physical and emotional trauma during the delivery process.
According to her statement, doctors delayed the decision to perform a cesarean section until the final moments. Because of that delay, she said, she was forced to deliver a stillborn baby.
Pawan Kalyan Orders Immediate Action
After listening to her account, Pawan Kalyan responded with empathy. He directed officials to bring the woman and her family to his Secretariat office on Monday. He also said he would personally review the details of the case.
Moreover, he assured the woman that the government would stand by her and ensure justice.
Call for Inquiry and Accountability
The woman requested a thorough investigation into the conduct of doctors and staff. She said such incidents should never repeat and urged authorities to take strict action.
Moved by her appeal, Pawan Kalyan stated that the government would provide proper assurance and examine the matter seriously. He emphasised that accountability in public hospitals remains a top priority.
