Konidela village in Nandyal district has witnessed rapid development under the initiative of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. He fulfilled his pre-election promise to adopt the village and prioritised its growth after the coalition government assumed office.
Rs 50 Lakh Donation for Drinking Water Project
Pawan Kalyan contributed Rs 50 lakh for the construction of an overhead drinking water tank in Konidela village, located in Nandikotkur mandal of Nandyal district. Authorities used the funds to build a 90,000-litre protected drinking water overhead tank. The project will supply safe drinking water to nearly 2,000 residents and resolve long-standing water scarcity issues.
District officials informed the Deputy Chief Minister about the drinking water problem during his visit. Based on their recommendation, he allocated his donation for the water project. Officials completed the construction before summer, ensuring timely relief to villagers. Pawan Kalyan appreciated the district administration and the Rural Water Supply (RWS) department for completing the work on schedule.
Rs 6 Crore Spent on Comprehensive Development
The government allocated over Rs 6 crore for Konidela village development through multiple schemes. Under Palle Panduga 1.0, authorities spent more than Rs 20 lakh to construct three internal roads. Under Palle Panduga 2.0, they sanctioned seven CC roads with an estimated cost of Rs 45 lakh, and work is currently in progress.
Through the Rural Roads Development Sub-Plan, the government approved Rs 4 crore for laying a 5-kilometre BT road from the Zilla Parishad School in Konidela to Lakshmapuram in Pagidyala mandal. Officials also sanctioned Rs 45 lakh to restore the road connecting the R&B road to Konidela village.
Infrastructure and Agriculture Support
Authorities constructed four Gokulams based on villagers’ requests. The Housing Department built 19 houses to support eligible beneficiaries. Officials also developed water tanks and improved basic civic infrastructure.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, workers developed 49 feeder channels to support farmers. The administration restored two minor canals and repaired three community check dams to strengthen irrigation facilities.
Promise Fulfilled
During the 2019 general elections, villagers requested Pawan Kalyan to adopt Konidela village while he toured the then-undivided Kurnool district. He promised to adopt the village, which shares his family name, and later fulfilled that commitment. During a subsequent visit to Nandikotkur constituency, he formally announced the Rs 50 lakh contribution and directed officials to take up priority development works.
The Deputy Chief Minister continues to monitor progress and address villagers’ concerns. His focused approach has accelerated infrastructure growth and improved living conditions in Konidela village.
