Telangana’s municipal election campaign faced an unexpected twist as Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan cancelled his scheduled campaign. He cited unavoidable reasons for the sudden withdrawal. His decision surprised supporters, especially since he was expected to campaign for joint BJP-Jana Sena candidates.
Jana Sena had earlier announced that Pawan Kalyan would actively participate in election campaigns over the weekend. The party’s central office confirmed his schedule for Saturday and Sunday, raising expectations among party workers and voters.
Before the cancellation, Telangana BJP President Ramachander Rao and Union Minister Kishan Reddy met Pawan Kalyan in Hyderabad. They urged him to support BJP candidates in the municipal elections. After the meeting, Ramachander Rao tweeted that Pawan Kalyan pledged full support to BJP and agreed to campaign for their candidates.
The sudden cancellation has created a stir in political circles. Party workers are now scrambling to find alternative ways to energise voters. Opposition parties have called it a setback for the joint campaign. Analysts are speculating on the political reasons behind Pawan Kalyan’s decision.
The BJP-Jana Sena alliance now faces the challenge of maintaining momentum without their star campaigner. Both parties plan to intensify grassroots efforts to reach voters and keep engagement high despite his absence.
