India Launches a Nationwide Push to Locate Unclaimed Assets
The government launched the “Your Money, Your Right” program on October 4 to help people recover unclaimed deposits, insurance payouts, mutual funds, pensions, dividends and other financial assets. Since then, officials conducted special camps in 477 districts to raise awareness among citizens. Public representatives, district officials and financial service teams worked together to guide people on how to claim their money.
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary informed the Rajya Sabha that the government explained all procedures in major regional languages. In addition, they spread awareness through short video messages.Internet Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens on Wednesday to recover their forgotten financial assets through the nationwide “Your Money… Your Right” initiative. He posted on LinkedIn and called the campaign a major chance for people to reclaim money they left unclaimed in banks and financial institutions.
Modi highlighted the massive scale of unclaimed wealth in India. He said citizens left ₹78,000 crore in banks, ₹14,000 crore with insurance companies, ₹3,000 crore in mutual funds and ₹9,000 crore in dividends. He also shared official websites that help people track these assets. Moreover, he encouraged everyone to join the campaign and turn forgotten savings into fresh opportunities. Modi noted that the government already returned ₹2,000 crore to rightful beneficiaries in October and November.
Regulators Provide Tools to Help People Find Their Money
Financial regulators such as RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, PFRDA and IEPFA support the program. They also launched user-friendly platforms to help people locate their assets easily.

- IRDAI’s Bima Bharosa guides people to unclaimed insurance amounts.
- SEBI’s Mitra assists investors in tracing unclaimed investments.
These tools now simplify the search process and connect people with money they forgot years ago. According to the Minister, families across the country are finally recovering savings they once thought were lost.
