AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh government is moving ahead with a clear plan to develop the Polavaram project surroundings into a major tourism hub, said Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu.
The minister said the government will develop a tourism hub across 9,900 acres, identified through a LiDAR survey, near the Polavaram project. Currently, officials are working on the layout plan design, which will guide future development.
Spillway Beautification to Highlight Telugu Culture
Meanwhile, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu held a review meeting at the Amaravati Secretariat with architects and agency representatives. During the meeting, he stressed that the Polavaram spillway beautification must reflect Telugu culture and the state’s rich heritage.
Moreover, he directed the architects to ensure that the design showcases the pride and identity of Andhra Pradesh. He added that the project should attract tourists while preserving cultural values.
Improved Connectivity Through New Proposals
In addition, the minister revealed that the government is preparing proposals to construct bridges connecting the Polavaram Left Bank, as directed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He asked officials to strengthen road connectivity by linking National Highways 365BB and 516E.
As a result, visitors will gain easier access to the proposed tourism hub. This improved connectivity will also support regional development.
Integrated Development in Focus
Furthermore, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu instructed officials to develop strong transport infrastructure alongside tourism facilities. He said this approach will boost tourism and generate local employment.
Senior irrigation department officials, architects, and agency representatives attended the meeting and reviewed the progress. Overall, the proposed tourism hub aims to transform the Polavaram region into a major attraction while driving economic growth.
